Our reasoning and expectations behind this.<\/strong>
We liked the idea of a flag pole with either a kite or a flag; however, we wanted it to be fixed securely and quick to put up, which the supplied stake didn’t achieve, even with guy ropes. Fixing it permanently to the van solved both problems; it also provided permanent storage (for the pole, if not the kite or flags).
The bat kite seemed quite appropriate (as bat is our 80-90 forum name), we have also had flags with a bat logo on them made to attach to the poles.
In the long term, we also intend to have a Light string & a <\/em>light at the top of the pole, so attaching the pole to the vane will make the power supply for these easier.<\/p>\n

The base cap is plastic, so we have added a bolt to make sure the sections won’t drop out accidentally in transit.<\/p>\n

In-use reviews for this<\/em>.<\/strong>
So far, good, a few positive comments. The sections must be firmly seated when raised, or they are prone to self-lowering.<\/p>\n

Very quick to erect & dismantle.
Gained an extra 800mm in height.
Essay access to the power supply. (needed for the planned mod).<\/span>
Storage problem solved. (for the pole).<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Cons.
<\/em><\/strong>Possible vulnerability to damage when driving off-road.
May transmit some wind noise into the van. (don\u2019t know yet??).<\/span>
Essay to forget it’s up when packing to leave.
Prone to self-lower, if sections are not firmly seated, (modification planned).<\/span><\/p>\n
